What is affiliate marketing?
What is affiliate marketing? Affiliate marketing involves an affiliate signing up to an affiliate program offered by an advertiser to promote and sell their products on a commission-based payment model. The publisher promotes our products or services using our unique link, which sends traffic to the website. If the lead generated, purchases the product, the affiliate, or the one who published it is paid a percentage from the sale. From a business perspective, we can think we are paying people only after successful sales are made. The risk for a business to use affiliate marketing is extremely low and the reward is high. We only need to pay affiliates when a customer converts, not when they drive people to our website. How affiliate marketing works: 1. Affiliate is assigned a tracking URL: This is to track which affiliates we have are driving our traffic. 2. Affiliate markets our company: Affiliates can promote our products through different ways: paid traffic (like Google Ads), YouTube video of the product, and link to it with the affiliate URL, emails, blog posts, reviewing products, etc. The possibilities are countless. When we sign up affiliates, we can also limit how they promote it. 3. Customers or leads are acquired: This is when the visitor purchases the product or signs up for our newsletter. 4. Affiliate receives a commission: When the affiliate drives us a customer or lead, we pay them out. Types of Affiliate Programs: Bloggers/influencers: If there are bloggers or social media influencers in our industry who engage with our ideal market regularly, we can consider partnering with them. Ideally, this would result in our target audience taking a look at our website, and if they like the products we offer and make a purchase, it is a win for both the parties. Review sites: It can be Youtube or other sites, where we can ask them to review our products or ask them to use our product links to suggest their viewers. By targeting the right target audience, we can reach a wide range of audiences directing to our site who can be potential customers. Email marketing: Apart from having our email marketing, it will be helpful to find similar affiliates who promote our kind of products. So, reaching out to them to add our links to their email marketing, will be huge leverage and in turn, can boost our sales. Advantages and Things to do: As a retailer, we can pick who we want to work with. If we have an affiliate program, affiliates can apply to come onboard our affiliate program, providing us with the opportunity to handpick those who can be the best ambassadors for our brand and products. If we pick the right affiliate who promotes mostly to our niche, we can leverage it and attract potential customers and turn them into sales. Affiliate marketing offers a flexible approach that is cost-effective, easy to manage and has a positive impact on businesses and brands as a whole. Affiliate Marketing Affiliate marketing is when an online retailer pays you a commission for traffic or sales generated from your referrals. The factors of Off-Page SEO carried outside the boundaries of the web pages or blogs of your own domain. The ranking factors of websites are not directly controlled by the admin publisher. Off-page optimization deals in link building for SEO. Off-page SEO is a long term and time-taking process. It includes acquiring backlinks to your webpage from the better authority sites, Social media and Social bookmarking. Off-page factors work in the background to improve the search rankings in search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo. Search engines have been moving on two wheels, On-page and Off-page factors. This is due to the major factors such as link building, social media, videos, blogging etc. If any website needs references from a website, it(website) should be socially active and should be shared amongst the communities of their niche. Hence, off-page factors are very needy for any website to rank. Types of Backlinks There are two basic types of backlinks, and one is more valuable than the other. Let’s take a quick look at each one and how they affect your site. No-Follow – A No-Follow tag tells search engines to ignore a link. They don’t pass any value from one site to another. So, typically they don’t help improve your search rank or visibility. Do-Follow – Do-Follow links are the type of backlink that everyone wants. Just keep in mind that the backlinks coming from respected websites hold the most value. This kind of backlink can help improve your SERP rankings. However, there are some do-follow links that are considered being bad or ‘toxic’. These kinds of links come from suspicious sites or are gained by breaking the search engine terms of service. This may cause Google to penalize or even de-index the website. The main factor is, it’s not about the number of backlinks, but rather the quality that makes the difference in ranking. By applying off-page SEO strategies, you can boost the ranking of your wesites, be noticeable and get drive traffic on your webpage. Let’s go through various techniques to optimize your web page. The factors which boost Off-page SEO are as follows: Link Building – It is one of the most famous and common ways of doing off-page optimization. Comment link – Just as in forum signatures, where you leave a link in your signature when you comment on any other’s blog to get a link back, here, instead of writing your name you write keywords in the comment. For example, instead of writing ‘Comment by CP’ you write ‘comment by where to buy T-shirts’ or something of that sort. Article Directories – If you publish your article in the article directories, you will get a backlink to your site. Mainly directories accept only original content, but there can be some directories which accept the relevant article. Page Directories – In shared content directories, websites like HubPages allows you to publish your content and in return, you can add links favoring your website. Social Media – The other way of building links is by engaging your website on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram. It is a great way to attract traffic. Mentioning your brand on social media platforms will drive a hell lot of traffic. Go straight with your strategy and website, you will start ranking. Social Bookmarking – This is another great way of promoting and attracting huge traffic to your website. Impacts of inbound and outbound links in SEO
Whenever you search something on a search engine, say Google, you will get hundreds of links as a search result. These results are spread across many pages. You can skim through all of these pages to get the information you are looking for OR you can focus on the first page with a limited number of links. Usually, you would get all the necessary information from the links displayed on the 1st page. This means that the 1st page on the search engine result pages (SERPs) have the most relevant information. How does a search engine like Google determine which pages belong to the 1st page of SERP? There are hundreds of factors that determine the positioning of a page. One of the most important criteria is the Domain Authority. What is Domain Authority (DA)? Simply put, Domain Authority is a ranking system developed by Moz that determines the pecking order of pages on SERPs. The scores range from 1-100 with 100 being the score at the higher end of the ranking system. Search engines use DA to validate websites providing comprehensive information on a particular topic. This directly translates into a top-ranking website being an authority giving you all the information you need, right at the top of your SERPs. If your page has a good DA, it will automatically appear at the top of the SERPs, and pages with low DA appear lower. DA is calculated keeping in mind multiple factors; the most important being linking root domains, the total number of links associated with the page and much more. What is considered a ‘good’ Domain Authority? Let’s explain this with the help of a common example. Suppose you have a query and you type it out in Google, chances are that a Wikipedia page of that query will appear at the top. Why Wikipedia? Wikipedia pages have many inbound links, i.e., a direct connection to other Wikipedia pages which can provide additional information related to your query, within the pages of Wikipedia. This means that all the information you need is available on Wikipedia. Also, it has several external links which will lead to other pages that will provide you with related information. Search engines view such pages as the ultimate compilation of all the information that a user may seek. This immensely contributes to the DA of a page, resulting in higher ranking. This means that sites with higher inbound and external links are bound to appear at the top of the SERPs. The contrary of this is new websites or business with fewer inbound and external links, will rank lower on DA and hence, appear at the bottom of the SERPs. An important concept to remember is that Domain Authority is a comparative scale. Your aim should be to rank higher than your competitors rather than having an overall high rank. This means that you should try to create pages that appear as the ultimate authority within your respective topic. This is important because your page with a particular topic appears on SERPs if a user searches Google for that particular topic. That is why, getting a good DA requires one to focus on their field on expertise, having related content in the form of inbound and external links, rather than related to irrelevant information.

On – Page SEOOff – Page SEO On – Page SEO As the name itself indicates the strategies of SEO will be within your websites/blogs Are you stuck in understanding SEO or you stuck validating your ideas? This article is the perfect solution for every person who is struggling to get started on SEO. The basic factors of On page SEO are as follows; Title Tag The title tag tells google bots what the page is about and that the page on your website is relevant for that keyword or keyword phrase. Title tags should be very unique for each page. In search engine result page, search engines will highlight your keyword phrases if a user has searched for those terms. This increases visibility and click-through rate. Your title tag should be written like this: Primary Keyword – Secondary Keyword | Brand Name Use a dash in between your keyword phrases and a pipe at the end before your brand name Meta Description Meta descriptions, while not as important in search engine rankings, are extremely important in getting users to click through from the search engine results page (SERP) to your website. Meta descriptions should use keywords wisely, but more importantly they should include a compelling description on which a user would want to click on. More like title tags, the result page will highlight keywords that the user searched for, increasing the chances of the user clicking through to your website. Write compelling meta descriptions 150 to 160 characters would be the perfect length Avoid duplicate meta descriptions Do not use quotes or any non-alpha characters (Google, cuts them out of the meta description) Header Tag A H1 tag, also known as a header tag, is much like the subject line of your website page. You should always use your keyword phrase once in the Header1 tag. This should be included on a page to which you are trying to drive unique traffic to the website. You can also use Header 2 tags if there are multiple sections in the web page. Best Practices to use headers while doing search engine optimisation Use your keyword phrase once in your Header 1(H1) tag Use Header 1(H1) tags on pages you are trying to drive unique traffic to website page Use Header 2(H2) tags if there are multiple sections Internal Links Internal linking refers to a URL on a page that points to another page on the same website domain. Internal linking is very important because it helps strengthen those keywords internally for those pages and website, it allows users (and search engine robots) to navigate through the website, and it tells the search engines that the page is relevant for that keywords used in that page. Internal linking is important for three reasons, strengthening three parts of website funnel. Internal links pass authority from one page to another (search optimization)Internal links guide visitors to high-converting pages, high-value(usability)Internal links prompt visitors to act as calls to action (conversion optimization) Best practices: When linking to another web page on the same site from within content or images, select good anchor text keywords to use in the actual link and do this often. For example: “We offer a wide range of products,” rather than “Click here for our products.” Alt Image Tag An alt tag is basically the name of an particular image. All images should use appropriate and relevant alt tags because Search bots cannot read the image formats like JPEG, PNG. Not only are alt tags good for search engines; they are also good for readability of other AI’s. If someone is using a screen reader, they will be able to hear and get to know about what that image is. You should try to include your keyword in the name of your image using Alt text, if possible, but don’t repeat the keyword. Image filenames should also be SEO friendly. Image search is much more widely used than believed, so traffic from there is also valuable asset.
