But you know.. the search will become more comfortable and interesting with the Google console search for keyword, WebPages, device details, and much more with amazing customized dates. Google search results…Fantastic!! There are lot of things we could discover from it without moving or going anywhere. Let me tell you in detail what I have discovered from search results in Google Console. This type of search results are the magic wand behind in building and supporting digital marketing.

Search
results is available as one of the sub menus in Performance category
of the Google search console menu on the left panel of the Google console
dashboard. When I click on the search results I could see a complete and
detailed views of click, impressions, the same is available as graphical
representation too..average CTR, average position, queries, pages, countries,
devices, search appearance and dates are available. You may confuse what to do
with these menus and options, how to work with and all. Filters are the added
advantage in this page. Let me explain in detail about each option available.

Clicks:

Click is an
event done by a visitor on the website. Clicks tells us how active the visitor on
the website. It is important to know the difference between click and
impression because it will make difference when we use Pay-per-click campaign.

Impressions:

Impression
is generated every time when a webpage is loaded and viewed by a visitor.
Normally impression count will be greater than the click count.

(Average)
CTR:

The term CTR is Click-through Rate. It is used to measure the ration of clicks to impression of the website. CTR can be measured by dividing the total number of clicks by total number of impressions. Say for example, clicks: 25, impression: 1000 CTR = Total clicks / Total impression i.e 25/1000 x 100 = 2.5 %

What is the
use of CTR ? Why to calculate this? Too many question arises right. I say CTR
is an important value to be calculated. CTR with high value is considered to be
effective at grabbing the attention of visitors. A low CTR value means the
improvement and consideration are needed for the website.

(Average) Position:

Position is
calculated for Google Search Results. Average position is the numerical order
in which Google displays a URL in search results. This “Position” is calculated
from top to bottom of the page.

I hope the
basic terms are somewhat clear now. Let us see how to group and apply filter
for the data. Herewith I share certain interesting facts about it. Let’s explore!!!

Grouping
data by “Queries”:

We can
group the data by choosing “queries” present at the second half of the search
results page. It shows the metrics for different keywords. Say for example if I
give the keyword “international school” this will allow to see how many clicks,
impressions for the URL is getting for this specific keyword.

Grouping
data by “Pages”:

We can
group the data by “Pages” present next to Queries option. It gives all the URL
of the webpage along with clicks and impressions. It will help us to find which
are all the pages viewed and clicked by the visitor most. This will again help
us to improve the content, images, video of the webpages of our site.

Grouping
data by “Countries”:

We can
group the data by “Countries”, this will show how many clicks and impressions
we are getting from a particular country. Say for example 87 clicks and 3258
impressions from US, 58 clicks and 1698 impressions from Mexico.

Grouping
data by “Devices”:

We can
group the data by “Devices”, this will show how many clicks and impressions we
are getting from different devices like desktop, tablet, laptop, mobile phones,
etc., This feature will help to find how user friendly is our website with all
the available devices.

Grouping
data by “Search appearance”:

We can group the data by “Search appearance”,
this will show how many clicks and impressions we are getting based on “how it
show up in search?” Say for example, 50 clicks from web light results.

Now it’s time to know about filters
and it’s usage. Filter option is used to narrow down the search results. This
option is available at the top of the page.

Filtering
data by “Search type”:

This is the
first available type of filter to search specified type of data. It has two
tabs namely Filter and Compare. Under filter it has Web, image, video, news
options along with two buttons ‘Apply’ and ‘Cancel’.

Filtering
data by “Date”:

This is the
second available type of filter where we can extract the data date wise by
specifying a date range. Customized date range is also available for a flexible
data extraction. This may help us to
find the traffic of visitors to the website time to time and also to find the
reason for peak traffic as well as low.

‘+ New’:

The above
search type and date are the visible filter options available at the top of the
search result page whereas there is a ‘+ New’ option to add more filters along
with it. If we click on ‘+ New’ it will display the parameters like query,
pages, countries, device, and search appearance. As we know these parameters
are already available on the search result page, what is new about it?. Yes
there is something special that the filter with its respective name is used to
extract the specified data out of the entire search result. Let us take a
detailed look on it.

Filtering
data by “Query”:

It helps us
to see how we have ranked for a particular keyword in Google search. If we
select ‘Query’ it will display Queries containing, Queries not containing,
Exact query, and Custom. Select any one of the above options and give the
keyword, it will display the narrowed search result along with the clicks and
impressions for that particular keyword. We could see the average CTR and
position too.

Filtering
data by “Page”:

It is used
to filter data for a particular URL of the web site. To know more about the
clicks and impressions happens to the particular webpage. Say for example only
to the ‘blogs’ page or else to ‘item purchase’ page.

Filtering
data by “Country”:

It is used
to filter data for a particular country along with clicks, impressions, average
CTR, average position. When we click on this filter it will display all the
available countries, we can choose the required.

Filtering
data by “Device”:

This filter
is used to set our choice to see the performance data from a mobile, from a
desktop or from a tablet along with clicks, impressions, average CTR, and
average position.

Filtering
data by “Search appearance”:

This filter
is used to view the performance of URL along with clicks, impressions, average
CTR, and average position when they display up in certain special features such
as Good page experience, web light results.

Compare
option in search results of Google console:

All the
filters provide this option to compare data. To compare clicks and impressions of two
different countries, between two different devices, etc., to get more accurate
search results.

Google search console has this type of filters, parameters which are very useful to do the required searches on the website.
